A view from Jeanneb

50 years!

Yes today is our Golden Wedding! Also the main reason for our visit here in Majorca where we spent our honey moon (also our 40th ten years ago)
We’ve had a great day starting with Cava at breakfast, not unusual in Spain and then a leisurely stroll up to the Far del Cap Gros. Leisurely because of our pace but quite a steep zig zag road to get there. You can get an idea of the steepness from the steps up to the house on the way in the extra unsurprisingly called L’Escala!
Also seen on the way was a wild goat. Again common in the Tramuntana mountains and especially on Cap Formentor where they can be a bit of a nuisance.

This picture is taken from just below the lighthouse looking back over the horseshoe bay of Puerto Soller. Two youngish guys poled up in a jeep which Chris says is a VW Kubelwagon, an ex WWII German military vehicle. He asked how old it was (74 years old) and then if they would take a picture of us. They couldn't believe we’d been married ( or anybody ) for 50 years!
Thank you to them.
Walked back down for a hotel pit stop before coffee on the promenade.

We wanted to find the hotel which my daughter and son in law stayed in last summer when we looked after the girls. It was quite high up at the other side of the bay. Sat for a while enjoying the view over the marina and then had a quick Look around the Far (lighthouse) museum which was in a lovely old building.
We located the hotel and headed in for a drink, just picked up the menus and it started to rain ( we’d spotted some  dark clouds). A great excuse to stay for lunch. I had an Aperol Spritz and a Tel Aviv Bowl of humus and salad vegetables.
G & J  loved this hotel, it has a hippy vibe and they were friendly to us two old aging hippies! ( See the flower power steps as we were leaving!)
An hour and a half later the sun was out and we were back on the prom. A bit of shopping ( I’ve always wanted a yellow bag)
and now chilling with a cuppa back at the hotel.
There is live music tonight and then we’ve booked a table across the road - she was putting out pink cushions this morning on the sea wall benches so it must be good! Also it was busy last night and the menu, lots of seafood, was only in Spanish!

Having a great day, sorry to go on so much!

The hotel have just brought us a bottle of Cava!! Going to be a merry evening.
