A night of music making
Not by me but by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra with the Chichester Singers, Guildford Choral and soloists performing Elgar's The Music Makers at GLive, Guildford. That was the piece in the first half of the concert and it was followed, after the interval, by Hubert Howells' Hymnus Paradisi. The orchestra, the massed choir and the soloists combined to make it a memorable evening of music making. We went with friends whom I first got to know when I was studying in Bournemouth 55 years ago, so they were very apt company for this particular concert, albeit the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is now based in Poole rather than the Bournemouth Winter Gardens which was where I first saw them play.
