The Vatican Museum, Trevi Fountain and Pantheon
The Minx had bought us all tickets to visit the Vatican Museum, this morning, although an AirBnB logistical issue meant Andy and Milly didn't make it.
However, we met up with Charlie and Hannah just outside the museum without any problem, despite the huge numbers of people. On a Monday morning!
The museum is incredible but also overwhelming; there's simply too much to take in. After a while, it's only the most exceptional paintings, sculptures, bits of pottery, statues, and artefacts that really have any impact, including of course, the Sistine Chapel.
High points for me were the map corridor - my first Extra is a map of Venice - and the museum's Raphael exhibition that we went along to at the Minx's instigation after the main tour.
From the museum, the Minx and I took the underground back to the hotel to do a bit of work, before meeting up with the kids again in the evening. Such is Rome that our walk from the underground station to the bar where we met them took us past both the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon!
