Outside with a cat
Another dry day, totally windless with some clouds and some sunshine. We have another u3a Creative Writing Group meeting on Tuesday, so I went through the piece that I’d written and hopefully improved it.
Later on I went off for a quick walk, delivering a small potted Chilean tree which shall be nameless to a friend up the road and returning a book lent to me by a friendly neighbour - ‘London & the Famous: An Historical Guide to Fifty Famous People and Their London Homes’, which included many people that I hadn’t realised had lived in London at some point. Long chats with both friends, of course, and another with a gent of my acquaintance who was out cleaning his car - unbelievably his name is Sandy Carr!
After lunch the sun came out and we took books outside, accompanied by Rosie the cat. For a while it was warm enough to sit in shirtsleeves - the first time this year! It didn’t last - I came in and out once or twice, but finally gave up. Nearly 19 degrees this afternoon.
Quote of the Day: ‘Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog, it’s too dark to read.’ - Groucho Marx.
