E.B.

I have been resting this afternoon as it is our youngest granddaughter’s 6th birthday today. We were invited to share in the present opening and cutting of the cake she and her dad had made and iced together, at 11:00am.
The whole family were going to a pottery making session as her birthday treat this afternoon, soon after lunch,
They did say if it would be too much for me that they would come here,
But I am a lot more mobile now, than when it was our youngest grandson’s birthday just after I came out of hospital and they all came here so we could share that with them too,
As it takes me ages to complete my morning ablutions it meant I had to get up a lot earlier, ( my choice), and have an early breakfast first.
I set my alarm.
I was so thankful that last night I had the first relaxing comfortable sleep without any weird dreams, although when I did dream they were what I classed as normal ones,
We were greeted by a very excited birthday girl wearing a card crown which was actually a clever birthday card someone had sent to her which opened out to make it, and a pretty pink princess dress,
As there are 8 of us when we are altogether we sat around their large dining table. That was easier for me being able to sit on an upright chair.
The usual blowing out of the candle, in this case just one in the form of a 6, took place, and.no singing of Happy Birthday, at her request.
She sliced into the cake very well, and her mum then did the rest dispensing it round the each of us.
Lovely to watch her open her gifts with such delight,
We left a little after 12:00 noon to come home. Just a 10 minute drive, (or a 30 minute walk, when I used to be able to do so.)
Looking forward now to a time when I will be able to once again walk longer distances.
I was tired after all that, and have been resting this afternoon, falling asleep at one point watching the morning church service which was then available afterwards on YouTube.
Stephen has been down to the 5:00pm service earlier this evening,
Our family do not post any photos on social media, so I cannot show you the birthday girl.
I cast around for a blip not having taken one all day and this is the result,
I’m not sure if I’ve used it as an E.B before or not.
It’s a print of a painting my cousin requested I do for her quite a few years back now. She has the original on the wall up in Rawtenstall, Lancashire.
It is Bolton Abbey on the River Wharfe in North Yorkshire. A place we all know so well, having been many times and crossed the stepping stones in the river.
She gave me a photo of it which was actually the frontispiece of a feature in a magazine called Lancashire Life all about it,
Which made us all smile being bona fide Lancastrians, There is always banter about the two counties who fought each other in the Wars of the Roses.

“The Wars of the Roses were fought between the houses of Lancaster and York for the English throne. The wars were named many years afterward from the supposed badges of the contending parties: the white rose of York and the red rose of Lancaster. Both houses claimed the throne through descent from the sons of Edward III”
