The Sugar Shack..
..where they boil the sap and maple syrup magically happens.
It was a good day for walking in the bush...not just any bush, but the maple bush at a local conservation area. A bush with rewards....walk through that bush, down that ridiculously steep hill to the sugar shack and back up again and you are rewarded with pancakes and maple syrup!
It is a popular outing for families, so you have to buy a ticket online in order to limit the number of visitors...and there is lots to entertain and educate visitors of all ages. In addition to seeing the whole syrup-making process, you can sample maple taffy, sip some tea made from sprigs of cedar, and even pet a Skunk and an Opossum ( compliments of Soper Creek Wildlife Rescue)
I outdid myself in taking photos...I obviously haven't been getting out much these days and I got carried away....took more blips than I could possibly ever use....but at least I will have lots for my annual photo yearbook.
PS: I loved the skunk and the opossum the best..heh heh...(except for the pancake breakfast...)
