Yes, some of you may have guessed why were staying in Pickering.

Railway 200.
2025 is the 200th Anniversary of the birth of the modern railway.
The Stockton and Darlington Railway opened on September 27th 1825. Connecting places, people, communities and ideas and ultimately transforming the world.

We had booked tickets to travel from Pickering to Grosmont and back.
We weren’t disappointed. Even the weather was in our favour and the sun came out.
It was difficult to take photos as we were actually traveling on the train.
However I have chosen this for my main blip as I thought it captures the great atmosphere, and shows all the happy crowds of people.
We were sat with a very nice couple, and found we had quite a lot in common. All added to an extremely happy day.

I have made a collage of a few extra photos and put it in as an extra.
One thing we found out today was that the North Yorkshire Moors Railway was inaugurated on the 3rd June 1967. The day we got married!
