Uditore parkrun WOW!

Excitement in the taxi en route was nothing compared to the excitement of the volunteers.  Uditore parkrun will be an experience that I will remember forever.

The parkrun was set up before we arrived; the team of volunteers had a real community feel, with many chatting to us before the start; we were welcomed in English; provided with tutus to wear (22nd March being tutus day); encouraged to join in with the photos ... 'photo' became the tail walker's catch phrase; greeted by the founder of Italian parkruns as she set up Uditore parkrun and it was the first in the whole of Italy; running along orange tree lined avenues with the smell of blossom; G parkwalked for the first time with E and MLaM and thoroughly enjoyed the experience; BUT most of all, we were invited to join in with the fiesta which followed the run. One of the regular Uditore runners ran his 100th parkrun and that was something that the whole community wanted to celebrate. The Italians certainly know how to party, with cakes, pastries, prosecco, all in plentiful supply. Honestly,  we could not have been made more welcome.  WOW!

Back home for a quick change before we dashed for a bus to take M, MLaM and myself to Mondello beach. A beautiful bay with a harbour at the far end. We enjoyed a wonderful swim before walking around the bay to a fabulous cafe with a sea view. It could not have been more perfect! See extras

Home in time for an evening meal of burgers in a restaurant in our favourite street. Lots of parkrun tales and enjoyable chatter completed a perfect day.
