WOODIES ARRIVE

Just a couple of days ago I was wondering where the Woodducks (Aix sponsa) were.  They showed up in abundance today.....mostly drakes.  The hens should be arriving soon.  I saw a cluster of a dozen drakes on this small woodland pond.....but most of them were too quick when I stuck the 600mm lens out the car window.  By the time I got my settings put in,  this straggler was the only one left within range.  Beautiful, aren't they?

This Mallard pair (Anas platyrhynchos) were in the pond as well.

To shoot both birds which were at a distance I switched to DX mode which gave me 900mm equivalent focal length.

BEST IN LARGE.
