An ordinary life....

Preparation stage 2...

Gin Palace almost complete.

Poor D had to cancel his golf today as Alan's support worker P had a bit of a family crisis to deal with so couldn't come in. V was able to cover some of the shift but not till 2.30pm, so Alan was stuck with us till then.  He did think it was hilarious that his dad was doing the morning routine and when I asked him if his dad got the routine mixed up, he indicated yes and had a fit of the giggles!  :-)

The upside of D not golfing was he was able to continue getting the Gin Palace sorted.  All his hard work cleaning yesterday was worth it as the inside walls and ceiling are now spotless!

While he got on with that, I headed to the studio for Day 2 of my acrylic painting course.  Today was all about tonal values and getting those down on the canvas in dark, mid and light shades of Phthalo blue.  I printed off the reference photo in mono, which makes it much easier to do.  A lot of paint was going on the canvas and I quickly realised that the 1" flat brush I was using was far too soft as I couldn't get the angles I wanted.  Changed to a firmer brush and although it was smaller, it got the job done much more satisfactorily.  I have gift vouchers for my favourite art supplier and I've been holding onto them till I really needed something, so now I know what I will be spending them on....some firmer acrylic brushes! :-))

Today's tutorial again only took about half an hour so afterwards I joined D in the garden and helped get things sorted in the GP.  I say helped...I basically directed him where to put stuff :-)))

Made a list of things we need to replace including some large candles, a lamp, a rug and globe string lights.

A quick dinner of pizza as D was heading out to his weekly singing rehearsal.  I am now researching acrylic brushes and acrylic paint and hoping to make a purchase shortly.
