Sunny afternoon
I picked up Luca and Eben from school, in the warm sunshine. This is a new Weds afternoon routine, giving Ruth a little extra time for her Art Therapy course work.
Both boys came out clutching white envelopes with their school reports inside. They wanted to open them, which was fine by me - especially as I knew there would be no nasty surprises, they're both doing very well. It was lovely to see their pleasure about all the positive comments from teachers.
Luca has developed a very slight stammer recently. This may well be an effect of his galactosaemia - it's among the known issues that affect some galactosaemic children and is to do with the impact that the condition can have on fine motor skills. Usually some speech and language therapy is enough to resolve the problem. Ruth and Josh have talked it over with school and with L's metabolic consultant, and the outlook for some support is good. For now, Luca himself seems untroubled by it. Here he is, showing off a broad bean seedling that he has been nurturing. In the extra, he's helping Ruth to trim some cuttings from their Magnolia Stellata.
