The weather forecast was for drizzle in the morning and rain later. It was damp when I went out with the bird food and recycling. I put a load of clothes through the washer.

The wine I bought last Monday in Grasmere Co-op was very good for the price so I hung the washing on the rack to dry and went back for another bottle.

I set off in drizzle yet two miles north it was dry and in Grasmere the sun was shining. I had a wander around the village. In the Daffodil Garden I spotted some snake’s head fritillaries. I got as low as I could without kneeling and took one photo with my phone camera. I expected it to be a total failure but was wrong.
