Fading Firth Mural

A breezy day, the odd sunny spell in the morning, a couple of showers, then windy and rainy this evening.  Hurry up spring!

A day working with young Steven.  We started the day with bulk waste removals around Lerwick, then battery collections, finally an oil waste collection.  In the afternoon we headed to Firth and Mossbank for more bulkies.  Walkies with Sammy, we popped by Madeline's for a cuppa.  Working in the shop again this evening.  A fairly quiet shift. The usual, feet up before bed.

As we drove through the council estate this afternoon, we passed by the old mural, which is looking rather sad these days.  Painted around 1998 by the late Davy Cooper and others from the Old School Centre, along with another mural with wildlife, which was ripped down.  The scene was from a traditional crofting and fishing era, with modern fishing, ferries and Sullom Voe Oil painted in colour.  It would be great if the community could save and restore this remaining one, a cheery bit of public art in need.  Taken at the Midlea garages, Firth, Delting.

The extra I took back in 2010, shows it more in it's glory days.
