An ordinary life....

It's a mystery...

I have received another gift without a gift card saying who from.

These delicious brownies arrived and I assumed they were from my friend H who commissioned me to paint a painting for her friend.  I messaged her the other day to let her know it was done and I would post it to her friend this week.  She asked me to let her know what she owed me for the cost of the postage and I said she could pay me in cake :-)  Then these arrived the following day.  But they're not from H!  I've asked on FB so hopefully the sender will own up so I can thank them properly.

Day 4 of my painting course.  Adding texture and some detail.  Hmmm....I spent a chunk of the afternoon working on it with a palette knife, rubber wedge, sponge roller, brushes.  One step forward, three back!  Looks a bit like a dug's breakfast but by the end, when I stepped back from it, I could clearly see where the wrong bits are.  I just hope I can fix them.

The paint colour mixing was a bit better today but tomorrow I've decided to  be less rigid in following the tutorial and trust my own process more.  I fell I am spending too much time getting my painting to look like the painting of the artist, than the reference photo.  I'm not sure I will have the courage to blip the finished result but I have learned so much over these few days, my frustration at how it's turning out is worth it.  If that makes sense?!  LOL!

Lauren was supposed to come round this afternoon to do my nails but one of her little girls has chickenpox, so that's been postponed.  Probably just as well as my hands and nails were covered in acrylic paint!

Our friends Alan and Gail are back from their holiday to South Africa and Gail contacted me today to arrange lunch at theirs in April.  Really looking forward to that and hearing about their great adventure.

Got a text a wee while ago reminding me I have a dental appointment tomorrow morning, then wound clinic in the afternoon (hopefully for the last time)  Also hoping to hear from the shop who have my external hard drive telling me it's all fixed.

Really heavy rain here today but D tells me that the weather forecast for. the next two weeks starting on Sunday is great.  Here's hoping that's true.
