In Hexham tonight

I was in Hexham briefly this morning. While I was out Annette decided to shampoo some of the downstairs carpets. Great stuff, but I keep forgetting and ending up with wet socks. (I usually pad around in socks or bare feet all day.) I have changed 3 times!

I started trying to sort out arrangements for when I go to the Outer Hebrides in June. The price of accommodation alarmed me, but I need to sort out the days when I travel to and from Lewis.

Tonight I was at the Forum cinema for the National Theatre live performance of Dr Strangelove. I haven’t seen the film with Peter Sellars, so I didn’t know what to expect.

The sign went up to say there would be strobe lighting and I hoped there would not be a heavy soundtrack like in Clockwork Orange. I saw a stage performance years ago and remember that my internal organs were vibrating!

This is a very clever reworking of the original with Steve Coogan taking four parts. I laughed a lot but the irony of the subject matter was all too clear.
