BODY/LENS TEST

Spring sports seasons start Monday...IF the weather cooperates and the snow has gone away.  Since it gets dark early and evening girl's soccer doesn't start until 19:00 Hrs. I need to use my 300mm f/2.8 Nikkor attached to the Nikon D6 body to take advantage of all the photons I can gather.
~
So I slapped the 1.7x converter on it which yields a 510mm equivalent focal length and only costs me a stop and a half.  It's a rainy morning in the Glen so I shot this Mourning Dove out the kitchen window as it was having a taste of breakfast at my ground feeder platform.
~
This lens is VERY heavy and it seems to get more heavy every year.  So I turned on the VR, jacked up the shutter speed and hand held this monster while shooting out the window.  All this just to test if everything was working to specs.  It was.
~
Rest assured that these old bones will use the monopod for shooting soccer as 12,800 ISO might be a tad high.  But it worked this morning as a test and at least I won't have to hand hold that beast for 90 minutes...I'm getting too old for that kind of abuse.

BEST IN LARGE.
