Before and after!

A few days ago, I mentioned R was replacing our old scruffy (fake) shutters. I say “fake” because they’re just there for decoration, they don’t actually close, as those on our houses in France did, which meant they were great for keeping the sun out on very hot sunny days, and great for security when you were away. You can see from the inset photo the shabby state of the old ones, with their paint peeling. He finished the downstairs ones several days ago, but then the weather changed, and it got quite cold. They’re only on the front of the house, so there’s three tall downstairs ones, and four shorter upstairs ones. I’m afraid the house is going to have to look odd with mismatched shutters for a few more weeks, since we’re off again on Sunday, heading down to Gulf Shores Alabama for almost two weeks!
