Visiting the Burrell Collection

Always a must when time allows.

The day started off dampish, this developed into a steady pouring as we walked along Pollockshields Road looking for the Cat Protection shop, a boutique. A young woman greeted us with ‘ I love your scarf’ and she continued to impress.  It was fun looking through the stylish clothes although we didn’t buy anything.  Now on look out for the Burrell collection, due to some minor vandalism we walked in the wrong direction for a few minutes, once back on track and bearing up under the steady downpour the Burrell appeared and I shot off to order soup and hot chocolate. We didn’t move for an hour, chatting about life, what needs to done, how to make it happen and warming up. Isn’t it strange how much easier it is to talk once away from normal life.  Although no great decisions have been made I think mentally we are moving forward.  Once warm and fed I concentrated on the ceramic area for a while, the colours and history are fascinating.

We retraced our steps back to the apartment picking up a Charlie Bigham fish pie for later on. By now it was wet and very windy.  Later on after a rest we ventured out to test the wine bar just around the corner, splendid was the comment, with huge green olives and haricots of the day and a glass of a pleasant red wine each. I am writing as the fish pie is finishing off in the oven, it sounds wild out there.

A good day, thank goodness for good wet weather coats and shoes and interesting venues. The training days continue with more steps than yesterday.
