A sheriff with his man on a two legged horse

We caught a bus into central Glasgow and had time to call into The Gallery of Modern Art. Phew. I’m not sure how to describe it and found this on line:  The Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) in Glasgow is currently exhibiting John Akomfrah's multi-screen film installation "Mimesis: African Soldier," which reflects on the experiences of soldiers from across the Commonwealth in World War I, particularly highlighting the contributions of African, Caribbean, and South Asian people.   The gallery entrance was in darkness taking us into a room with three huge screens, a clever way to show the same view from a slightly different perspective. I came out surprised to see blue sky and sunshine.

Afterwards onwards to look for Kelp, a restaurant on Cowcadden Road, serving Scottish based food in a very different way.  Most enjoyable with a pleasant white wine with the mains and sharing a pudd and glass of sweet wine.  An easy atmosphere, good service and all round delight.

John had spotted some information earlier in the week and after eating we set off to check it out, I has no idea what it was about until we arrived, a statue made in honour of cartoonist and poet Bud Neill, showing Lobby Disser and villain in handcuffs on the two legged horse Elfie. It was worth the walk to see this fabulous and fun memorial and the only two legged horse in the west.

On the walk back to the centre we passed the very sad looking Glasgow School of Art covered in scaffolding the Charles Rennie Mackintosh building suffered two fires: the first on May 23, 2014, and the second on June 15, 2018, causing significant damage, including to the Mackintosh Library.

Now in the city centre, a half hearted wander around the men’s clothing area in John Lewis and much relief when on a train back to the apartment.  A good few steps again, including the 42 up to the apartment. It’s keeping us shattered  fit.
