A glimpse of light (Day 3610)

It was a fairly reasonable morning when I took Sigyn for her morning wander up the hill, and despite my sciatica reminding me that it is still a problem, I was contemplating getting out for a ride on George. During my conversation with the Spinal Unit yesterday I mentioned that I am really missing riding which is taking a bit of a toll on my mental health. It was the Spinal Unit that advised against riding, but the new advice is to lead as normal a life as possible, but if something hurts and the increased pain persists for a day or more, avoid that activity.
A quick chat with my beautiful wife shelved the plans for riding. With some of George's tack in HV's van, and HV not really sure where other stuff was, I decided to ride some other time.
I spent a fair while sorting out some stuff and doing a run to the dump. Clearly, because it was a reasonable morning, everyone else had decided to do a dump run so there was a fairly long queue. It didn't really help that some folk were leaning on their cars and having catch up with people they hadn't seen for a while.
Back home I had a quick coffee before heading out to Lyde with Sigyn. As I got ready to go out, heavy rain arrived. It was a very wet and windy wander, and I think Sigyn was glad to get home for her dinner and a snooze on the couch.
After lunch I zoomed to Stromness to see the horses. The field is turning into a swamp after lots of very heavy rain over the past couple of days and the quad bike struggled to pull the hay trailer in the mud. Despite the rain, the horses all seemed happy enough munching their way through the hay. Typically, as I was finished the horse chores, the rain and wind eased off a bit and there was a glimpse of sunlight over Hoy. By the time I was home, it was raining again.
