Birthday Flowers
It really feels as if gremlins have taken over things right now. There’s the car issue still waiting to be resolved - but the EV3 is a pretty good temporary consolation and we’d be very happy to just keep it rather than have our own car back once it’s eventually repaired!
However, our ancient gas boiler was due to be replaced four weeks ago - I think I mentioned previously that the new boiler and associated bits are now sitting in the middle of our lounge. Since then we’ve heard nothing about a rescheduled date, though the scaffolders have been round with lots of sharp intakes of breath indicating what a difficult - and expensive- job this will be. Of course, the problem of accessing the flue is exactly the same as it was when British Gas arranged to do this job before inexplicably cancelling the scaffolders in January when we were in Japan.
Since the start of the month, we’ve had to call out the service engineer three times as the old boiler limps towards a complete breakdown. On Thursday, it stopped working leaving us with no hot water or (heating), and at last on Friday an engineer turned up. After several challenging hours, he seemed to have sorted it, but this morning we awoke to find the carpet near the boiler soaked; clearly we now have a leak.
So there’s an another phone call, and another engineer turns up. Eventually he works out that the leak is because the previous worker hadn’t replaced the pipes correctly!!
The good thing is we now have hot water, but to say we’re not impressed is an understatement. And trying to get hold of the guy in charge of new boiler installation makes dealing with Kia seem like a walk in the park!
Moving on to other creaking bodies …… gradual improvements to my back/leg pain seem to be maintained as I complete the last day of my diazepam dosage, and as a gesture of positivity, I complete the online checkin for Monday’s flight.
Today’s blip is a spotlight on my birthday flowers.
