Iwamoto-ji

This is the ceiling of the main hall at temple number 37, Iwamoto-ji. There are 575 paintings, donated from artists from all over Japan when the temple was refurbished in 1978.

We had a shorter day, walking about 12 miles, partway with a Dutch pilgrim called Pier, and at the temple we met Antonia and Valentine, two pilgrims we had met on our very first day. They shared a pomelo fruit with us as we chatted.

The cherry blossom is still reaching its peak, we walked along a road under palest-pink white flowers.
