Solace Day 5.
One of the many things you have to keep in mind while cruising is your water supply. Boats have a large tank so in theory you could possibly do a whole week without filling up, depending of course on things like how many showers the crew have. Personally I prefer to spend a few minutes filling up often rather than a long time occasionally.
Once on the River Weaver we came across a boat that had strayed into an un-navigable "flash" and grounded. Their boat yard was unable to help, neith was River and Canal Rescue. The only suggestion they could give was pump out all your water and it might lighten the boat enough to float again. Thankfully it had. They were at a water point and had been running water for an hour and suspected it would be another hour until full. Moral of the tale, don't go past "End of Navigation" notices.
As you might have guessed by now the photo has something to do with water. Well, yes, it was taken while we were filling the water tank. The lock is Penkridge lock. The white bollards show the "Lock Landing". That area is only to be used by boats waiting to use the lock. Fishermen aren't allowed to fish there either. A good number don't seem to understand that.
