I've had this little tin for many years but never used it with Jonty and Foxy. Jonty was a 12 week old puppy when we got him and was very easy to train. Foxy was about 3 the vet reckoned so still quite young and picked up the training very quickly.
Ziggy, being an older dog of about 9 years, needs a little encouragement but he very quickly learned that when I press the top of the tin, and it makes a loud 'CLICK' noise, he knows that there is a small bit of sausage treat in the offing and he comes to me.
At doggy school this evening he was just excellent. He did a whole minute 'Stay' lying down, in fact it was well over a minute. the other exercises went very well too.
At the end of the class the instructor said that Ziggy, and one other dog, will be taking their Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Award in a fortnight. It is held in a section of the hall that can be closed off so we'll attend the class, as normal, go out for a wee (both of us!), and come back in for the examination.
Really proud of Ziggy, he's come such a long way in such a short time. only 7 doggy school classes, plus practice at home of course.
