A Grand Day Out
Today for our morning walk we ventured to East Dean, a village in the South Downs. Before we left Andy identified a circular route to walk which took us through the village and up into a beech woodland. It was a sunny day and the signs of spring were all around - lambs in the fields, woodland filled with bird song as well wood anemone and a few bluebells in flower. The walk also took us past many interesting features including a wood workshop and totem pole and the church which had a gravestone dating from the 17th century (see Extras).
Afterwards we walked to a local farm who have a milk hut and treated ourselves to a chocolate milkshake. Then we went on to The Kennels for a light lunch. Merlin was especially happy as he was given a big bowl of water and some dog biscuits.
A beautiful day.
