It doesn't feel like
spring yet - it's chilly and damp.
We can hope for more

I left the house just before 8 to drive up the hill to the Hillside Cemetery. I left the usual three anniversary daffodils on my husband's headstone. It's been 12 years but seems like forever.
I made my way back across the bridge to McArthur Island Park. It was a mere 5 C when I stepped out by the foot bridge to have a look at the slough. To my delight, two does were tippy toeing along the edge of the slough. They didn't appear for long and were soon back into the underbrush.
The slough looks like a couple of dirty ponds. The river that replenishes the slough is very low, leaving the slough dry in most places. We will have to wait for spring runoff to improve things. I noted the pairs of Canada geese, always dominant in the park. They are strutting about like they own the park. The mallards who are in great supply just swim in endless circles with nowhere to go. The colours in the park are mostly grey with some green beginning to appear. Winter hasn't relinquished its hold completely.
I returned home with my breakfast in hand. As always, there are lots of jobs to attend to when I get back home after the winter away. I'm in for the day.
