Warm enough…
For giraffes? I don’t think I’ve clocked this pair before - we passed them on our way from a late lunch in our favourite Valvona & Crolla to the Apple Store in Princes Street, where a cheerful genius managed to replace the battery in my Air Tag - a finicky task which he said he did more by luck than anything else.
We had already spent a pretty idle morning drinking coffee in the garden and making sure the cats had plenty to eat. Eventually we pulled ourselves together to walk down to Roseburn to catch a bus into town, where we walked half the length of Princes Street to fit in a visit to M&S. By the time we reached Valvona and Crolla I had removed my jacket and stuffed it into a bag, and we saw an elderly man in long shorts and a young woman in very short ones and I wondered if blipper Lady Findhorn had had a lovely swim this morning. ( she had).
I, meanwhile, managed to buy more of my favourite pecorino cheese and other delights; we caught a bus that became very full; I chatted to the wee woman in the seat beside me, and we found enough energy to climb back up the hill to the house. Another 10,000+ step day clocked as we subsided in the front garden (the sun had moved) with a cuppa.
Now we’re heading bedwards and debating whether the cats really need yet another pouch of food overnight (sustain their night-time adventures?). I say yes - don’t want them to nag us in the morning. It’s strange, this cat-sitting malarkey - feeling responsible for living creatures after decades of only looking after ourselves.
And tomorrow we’re expecting a plumber.
