Blethers with a Lady
As this crazy high-pressure weather continues, I had a rather more prescribed timetable for today than for the rest of our visit so far. I was brought back to my real life when I left Himself to deal with cats and washing up and joined a Zoom vestry meeting - our last before we have a rector again.
I had to bail out before the end of business in order to smarten up a bit and call a taxi to get us into town in time for brunch with blipper Lady Findhorn. I’d requested that this time we meet in her local , and as we paid the taxi I could see this figure gesticulating behind plate glass indicating where to find the door to Söderberg Pavilion.
Without treating you to a blow-by- blow account of the afternoon, I’ll try to paint a broad brush vision of giggles, food, agreement, more food, sunshine, hats,(against the sun), singing, Pilates, politics, experiences, families … and wide-ranging and often hilarious conversation. We had to go indoors for some respite from the sun, but I took the above photo to show how The Meadows were covered by groups and solo sun seekers, barbecues and cyclists, students and random strangers , all flocking to this swathe of green to enjoy the sunshine.
We eventually left and found a bus stop. I reflected as we waited - and as we sat in the busy bus - how much hard work it is living in a city. I know I grew up in Glasgow; I don’t know that I could cope with it any more.
The evening was largely dominated by cats.
‘Nuff said.
