Light and shade

Life is made up of light and shade.

There are parts of our individual stories that shine brightly and we are happy for others to see. There are other parts we prefer to keep in the shadows and hope nobody knows about them.

The idea that God knows everything about us could be a cause for concern, whereas it ought to be a source of abundant joy. Let me explain why.

If God did not know everything about us we would live under the constant pressure of trying to keep things hidden. That is no way to live. 

The reason we sometimes want to keep things hidden is we are unsure of the reaction we will get. How wonderful to know that the reaction of God, who knows everything about us, is 'I love you'.

Life is full of light and shade and God embraces all of it. May we know the abundant joy of living in the light of His love and show that same love, grace and mercy to all those we meet.
