Shakin’ All Over

Whilst we were rehearsing and performing “The Waiting Room” there was another Footlights studio production rehearsing at the same time. They have a three night run, starting tomorrow, performing in Moor Space which is part of The Dukes theatre in Lancaster.
As I am out elsewhere on each of the three performance nights, I was delighted to be allowed to attend the dress rehearsal tonight. The production is of “Bouncers” and “Shakers” by John Godber and Jane Thornton. These are two, one act, comedies set in the 1980s. Bouncers has four male actors and Shakers four female actors, but each actor plays several characters throughout their respective plays, often swapping genders and switching between said characters without a pause. The photo is from the start of Shakers, snatched just before the house lights went down.
Both pieces were excellent and I take my hat off to those involved. A lot of lines to learn and everyone on stage pretty much all the time. I have enough trouble playing one character, never mind half a dozen in the same play!
