Suzuka - Day 1

So it would be rude not to attend the Suzuka Formula 1 race given we've travelled almost 6000 miles to get to Japan and they schedule it during the blossom season, so here I am. Mrs C has 4 days of free reign without my moany face and I have 4 days at Suzuka with a happy face, win win if you ask me, and her...

There was no on track activities today, but the circuit was open for people to explore and go on the rides in the attached theme park. I had booked a package that included a photo with the trophies, a tour round the track and a pit lane walk with the F1 teams who were preparing for tomorrow, including practicing pit stops.

We saw drivers walking, running and cycling around the track, drivers in their garages, all mixed in with the visitors so we were often quite close. It was another struggle to choose the photos so I just went for it. Above I've squeezed in photos of Kimi Antonelli, Fernando Alonso, George Russell (running on the track), Yuki Tsunoda, Carlos Sainz and Pierre Gasly. I did see several other drivers but no photos.

Suzuka is an iconic track, so many memorable races and incidents. The Japanese love their Formula 1 so the recent switch of Liam Lawson with  Yuki Tsunoda (who is Japanese) and Yuki promoted to the Red Bull team alongside Max has increased the excitement here although it has messed up lots of posters, merch and banners at the circuit!

It was a great day, I really enjoyed it and not yet seen any racing yet.

Meanwhile Mrs C was off on.a hike somewhere, maybe she'll tell her story on her own blip journal?
