Pheasant's Eye
A week ago, none of the Narcissus Poeticus (or as they are more common known, Pheasant's Eye) daffodils were in bloom, but a week of strong sunshine later and they are all in flower. Although this looks quite exotic, when compared to the yellow on yellow daffodils we more often see, this Narcissus was one of the first daffodils to be cultivated, and is frequently identified as the narcissus of ancient times. In case you've forgotten your Greek myths - Narcissus gets turned into a flower by Nemesis, the Greek God of vengeance. Once upon a time, Greek Gods used to do that sort of thing a lot as I recall.
Cathy and I met one of her oldest friends at a local-ish pub for lunch today. The weather being good, we elected to walk to the pub across the fields. I enjoyed a very nice cassoulet and a lunchtime beer - which was most enjoyable. Collectively we tried to keep our conversation glued to more positive topics, but inevitably got drawn into the chaos that Donald Trump seems determined to inflict upon the world. I guess it is too much to hope that a passing Greek God would drop by and turn him into a cabbage?
