Red-naped Sapsucker

These birds should have migrated north by now .  They  hang around here during the non-breeding seasons (August through March). I feel lucky to have gotten this one before it leaves!.  It was once considered the same species as the yellow-bellied sapsucker but has now been classified as its own species.

After I got my blip, it was a busy day shopping and doing paperwork, which was okay with me because the weather went south. The heavy clouds rolled in and rolled out several times bringing with them lots of spits and stops of the wet stuff.  It rained just enough to leave my dusty car all spotted.
Off to the car wash very soon!
