Adorbs!
Another fluffy bird today - I can't help myself. The tufted titmice are still coming and going in a group of a half dozen or more, each cuter than the last. Soon they will get down to the serious business of nesting but for now they seem to be intent on being as adorable as possible. This one was perched in the cherry tree and I had it in my viewfinder when I saw it start fluffing its feathers out - the whole sequence took probably 3 seconds at most.
It is a chilly, goopy day with scattered showers. Jax preferred to be inside although he kept watch over me through the living room window as I lurked out in the garden stalking birds.
Last night Hubs and I were in bed and he mentioned the word "bear". Well, Jax shot out of his bed, fully hackled, and raced downstairs where he barked ferociously. It amazes me that he absolutely recognized the word even though he hasn't actually laid eyes on a bear yet this year. And if we'd said the word "bear" a month ago, we wouldn't have gotten this reaction from him. This is all a result of him smelling a bear in the yard this week. Dogs have an amazing sense of smell and apparently the ability to sense when the scent is friend or foe.
I am planning to be lazy today. Jax is being very snuggly and I'm thinking it's a perfect time to cuddle the dog and read a book.
