Beauty under the sun

Our flying visit to Oban ended this afternoon, but not before our friends took us on another of their favourite (if lesser - they're a lot younger than us!) walks. We had a leisurely start, coming together for breakfast/scone-making sort of randomly, then organising ourselves to get out before we ran out of time. (Note: conversation is a great thief of time!)

This time we crossed the Connel Bridge to North Connel and drove inland a bit before parking and continuing our walk on the road above the loch side. The photo above was taken right at the start of the walk, as I loved the great random clumps of daffodils among the grass and dead bracken under the still-bare trees. We noticed the odd bluebell among the yellow and green - strange to have bluebells before Easter! We didn't walk as far today - we had the awareness of our forthcoming drive home and we still had to pack, not to mention the fact that I was suddenly reminded I'd not yet had my coffee, so that I instantly felt worn out and desperate...

Back for a delicious and somehow sinful lunch of cheese scones and coffee, after which we bunged all the mess we'd made of our room into the car and were ready to go. Only 26 hours, but a lovely, warm, conversation-filled time with friends who made it all seem easy, in the best of weather that made Oban seem a different place to the rainy town I associate with church meetings...

Two hours later we were home. We sat in the garden and drank tea, after which Himself got on with organising the hymns for tomorrow and I unpacked and polished our bedroom floor. (I know - timing could've been better, but it was the sun's fault). There seemed to be a great many fiddly things needing attention, but eventually I was able to open one of these posh ready meals that come in kilner jars - in this case cassoulet - and pop a half-baked baguette into the oven.

I've just fallen asleep over the news, and it's earlier than I usually end up doing this. This is A Good Thing. I'm off...
