Silly Saturday ...
... Funny cars. And a snake.
We had a fun day with some driving, walking and enjoying the hot (85°F.) North Carolina sun.
Richard had read about a great birding spot that was over by Asheville so we headed out that way ... which involves lots of back twisty turny roads. On one of those roads as we were going around a hairpin curve these cars were coming the other way. We quickly pulled over and I was able to get some shots looking down the hill at them ... even though I had my sunglasses on and couldn't really see what I was photographing! Silly Saturday sorted! Thanks to davidc and his beautiful Editor for hosting this month's Silly Saturday in memory of the lovely Admirer.
Before we went to the supposed birding hotspot we stopped first at Asheville Botanical Gardens. And whilst there we encountered a man with his ball python ... Patches! I've added a shot of her in Extras. This was shot from a standing position even though I really wanted to get right on the ground with her. But there were too many people around and I would have felt silly.
We had a lovely day in the Asheville area but we did see some of the damaged areas from Hurricane Helene that hit this region last September. We have yet to get into the city of Lake Lure and the Village of Chimney Rock to see the damage there. I think tomorrow will see us there. It will be very sad to see the destruction that this hurricane caused ... but we must.
