Yorkshire Sculpture Park
When racking my brains to think of a gift for Tom's significant birthday, I browsed through the shop on the Yorkshire Sculpture Park website, and a print of an oak tree caught my eye. It's from the Keepers of Time Exhibition by Tony Wade. I really like it and, hopefully, Tom will too. Unfortunately it wasn't back from the framer's in time for his birthday a couple of days ago, but we were able to pick it up today.
When we lived in the area 15 years ago, there were public footpaths through the YSP, and it was possible to walk through the grounds and by the lake for free. That's no longer the case, but we we able to access the shop and, if we'd had time (and it hadn't been so busy), we could have looked round the Tony Wade exhibition.
This was the view as we walked to and from the shop; the tree to the right is the one in Tom's print. It's a lovely place and, when we have a whole day to spare, we'll go back and re-discover the sculpture park. If you're in West Yorkshire, it's well worth a visit...
