Exploring the neighbourhood
We've had a day off from the unpacking today and have done a bit of exploring around the neighbourhood, but before we went out Rachel called me on FaceTime for a chat and so I could see my gorgeous granddaughter. Scarlett was all smiles and it was lovely to see her - it's a great way of keeping in touch.
We walked over the hill into Rottingdean via a path through the fields, with a view across the South Downs in one direction and towards the sea in the other. It really is the best of both worlds, and I don't think I've ever been anywhere before where the countryside meets the sea.
Rottingdean is a historic village with quaint little pubs and cafes and some lovely old houses as you can see here. There were some whoppers too, and it's hard to think that it's a coastal town which is just down the road from Brighton - it looks like it should be in the Cotswold's.
Anyway, we had a good walk and stopped off for lunch at a picturesque cafe before heading down to the beach and walked along the coast back to Saltdean where we live. It's a very good circuit, but there's some very big hills and the combination of the exercise and the sea air has worn us out, so I think it'll be a relaxing night tonight - hope you have a good one!
