We knew we could check in our luggage for the afternoon ferry from 10am, so didn't have to spend the day hauling it round, but if we'd been properly clued up we'd also have known that we had time to catch a boat to St Martin's - the only inhabited island we haven't visited - and get back in time for our ferry.
But we'd assumed the inter-island boats were running at the same time as last week so instead we checked in our baggage at 10.15, watched the boat to St Martin's leave the harbour, then ambled, spent a bit of time at Porthcressa beach, ambled some more. The others did some shopping but that's one of my least favourite activities and while I left them to it I came across St Mary's community bus.
The ferry crossing back was fairly calm in full sunshine, the taxi we'd ordered in advance was waiting for us at the port and we arrived at Penzance Youth Hostel before they'd stopped serving supper.
A low excitement day, but we did what we needed to do.
