With a decent forecast and a long injury list for the Binos, I opted out of Boroughbriggs and instead boarded the 0904 to Dunblane armed with a Giant Defy III (XL) and a packet of jelly babies.
From Dunblane I headed through my childhood up the B8033 - past Ballendall, Knoxfauld, Loig, Feddal, Glassick et al - brutal it was into a 15 mph head wind
And with the folks on Sooth Ronaldsay, nae cuppa in the sleepy village, either.
So onwards past Over Ardoch, Beannie, West Winds and Glenlichorn and outwards along the B827 with slightly more favourable wind this time. (!)
There's always a joy when you pass the Carnegies' place at Tigh na Blair and the long sweeping descents into Comrie start. Straight on past the Glenartney crossroads, and past Auchengarrock with its cheesy Water 'Otter exhibit and a passing nod to Cultybraggan as Dalginross heralds the start of Comrie.
Left turn, a zip along the main strip and sharp right over the hump back bridge and the calm of the Aberuchil road.
St Fillans saw me pay homage to Cigs before a belt along the north side of Loch Earn and a lunch rendezvous with Her, Loki and Fi fae work who were out doing the Strathyre to Killin section of the Rob Roy Way.
They then headed north, and I turned south, through Balquihdder Station and Strathyre before the tedious lumps of gravelly road alongside Loch Lubnaig.
Callander saw a pit stop for much liquid and Gold Bar biscuits before the toil resumed. Out on the Aberfoyle road past Tall Paul's former abode, and a left to follow the Teith towards Deanston, past the distillery (I managed to not spend anything - phew!) and onwards up into Doune ( geddit?)
Taking the Hill of Row road was tough. Uphill/ head wind - aaargh!
Finally it was right and speeding down onto the Carse, below Keir House and into Bridge of Allan
Train home, jacket potato, sleep.
Extra is the route
