Grumpy Old Man

Island life

And still the glorious weather continues! Started on my holiday photos this morning, then at 12.15 I was picked up by a fellow u3a member and we drove down to the Kerrera ferry for a Creative Writing meeting on the island. There were only three of us today as several were either ill or absent for undisclosed reasons - it did seem rather pointless. We all read something that we’d written, in my case on a few limericks and clerihews - we didn’t even have a mystery object to write about.

It’s only a short crossing as can be seen from my Blip, but tickets are not available on board and have to be bought online or at the Oban ferry terminal. I bought mine online yesterday - it took longer that the crossing itself!

The ferry can only carry 12 people, due to the lack of life-saving equipment, but there were many folk waiting to cross and the ferry just kept on going. Someone was having a good moan about the tourists and wondered why they all came to the island.

There’s a small shop selling local produce, though I didn’t have time to look in as my friend wanted to get back. A lovely quiet island with a couple of cafés, but only for walkers.

Back before three, did a bit of painting on the wall of the flower bed above the house which MrsM began yesterday, a bit of plant tidying in the greenhouse and a cuppa on the deck.  More sunshine for the next couple of days apparently, then rain expected by the weekend.
