When to stop digging

The good weather continues, though rain is forecast for Saturday and several days beyond. We do need it and hopefully it will ease the worry of wild fires.

I went down to the local primary school this morning to pick up the bag of litter pickers and gloves that I loaned, or rather Keep Oban Beautiful loaned, for a school litter pick recently. I hadn’t realised that the school was shut for the Easter holidays so there was nobody there but some electricians trying to get in. Somehow the alarm was set off and after waiting some 15 minutes the janitor arrived to turn it off, and fortunately was able to find my bag of goodies! Don’t tell anyone that if the alarm goes off you have 15 minutes to clear the place out!!

Spent some time in the garden this afternoon, digging a hole, or trying to, in a space I reserved for a shrub a while ago when we had the drive surfaced. I was hoping to plant out a potted palm, Chamaerops humilis ‘Vulcano’, but unfortunately there were more stones there than soil and I failed to get down more than about a foot. The palm had been in the middle pot in my picture, so I had to chop the rootball in half! I hope it survives.
