Violence required

I drove today to Glasgow. First time on a week day at rush hour.
Largely uneventful drive, with the only excitement as I got to the old Gas Towers on the M8. Went from 60mph to nearly zero in quite short order.

Day in the office done and headed to my next stop in Linlithgow.
I required fuel at this point in the day. Pulled up to the BP and did the normal thing. But, I found that the solenoid on the flap wasn't working - no amount of pressing, banging or locking and unlocking would release it.

One call to VW assistance got me an AA man visiting to look at it. He came to the same conclusion - its bust.
However, with 40 miles of range left I barely had enough fuel to get home. So, with some panel tool and a bit of violence the externl flat was broken off - the clips went for a burton.
Next, was the actual housing, where additional violence was required, but got us access. So, fuel can be added.
This extended my day by a couple of hours and by the time i crossed the threshold into the house it was well passed 8pm that night.
Saying this, going to the office in Glasgow will only be a rare occurrance and I think I'll take the train going forward.
