Orchid flag

On campus for some meetings today but escaped for a lunchtime walk. Being springtime means little orange flags have popped up in the grass, each one marking a common spotted orchid. Soon they will be joined by white flags indicating bee orchids.
I assume someone counts them and keeps a record of population numbers.
