To move or not to
move - that is the question I
often ask myself

~carliewired

A local real estate developer asked me to view his current project in the city. He wanted some feedback and he wanted to show me what his projects look like. He would like to do something like it on a property that I own.

This particular development has two towers, each with 4 stores and underground parking. It features one or two bedroom units with an elevator for each building.

I started with the one bedroom unit that has been staged for viewing. I was surprised how small it is at 850 sq. ft. The bedroom is very small. (I missed a photo here.) Once the bed was set up, there was no room for anything else. It was less than 10 ft. by 10 ft. A stackable washer/dryer was crammed into the hall closet leaving less than half the closet for other purposes.

Outside, there are only 7 parking spaces for visitors including 2 designated for handicapped parking. Only one parking space per unit is included underground for owners/residents. An additional parking space underground is a further $20,000 added to the purchase price of $350,000.

I asked who buys these as they seem small and not particularly well situated. It's a two block walk to the city bus. Parking on the street is already rather crowded. I could foresee some issues with traffic and access.

As a retiree, I don't find this of interest to me. I thought these apartments were really for people who are never home or who don't own anything.

So, I will be giving my feedback for what it's worth. Meanwhile, I'm waiting for a lady to come measure my living room windows for shutters.
I think I will be staying put for the time being. No rush for moving!
