Lyme Regis ammonite
You can't really go to Lyme Regis and not blip a fossil...
Mr hazelh and I started the day with a pre-breakfast walk along the esplanade to Monmouth beach. There I photographed this ammonite on one of the larger rocks.
The purpose of our early expedition was to see whether the conditions were suitable for taking the parents to see the ammonite pavement later in the day. We weren't certain that this would be possible, but left it up to them to decide. In the end, they were up for the challenge, so we all wandered down there after lunch.
All went well on our afternoon walk until Mr hazelh tripped on a small stone, pitched forward, lost his balance, and pulled his mother down to the ground with him! Poor Mr hazelh grazed his bare legs. However, his mother seems to be unscathed - at least for now. I suspect that she will be rather stiff in the morning.
Prior to the afternoon adventures, we enjoyed a couple of hours in the town's museum, and coffee on the terrace of a small café away from the busyness of the beach. For lunch we bought sandwiches at the west end of town and ate them on The Cobb.
Meanwhile, home in Edinburgh another blipper was kindly charity shop shopping for us. Our set of Game of Thrones DVDs is almost complete. All we need now is series 8.
On our last evening together we ate 'posh' again in the hotel dining room. It's been a fabulous few days with amazing weather, and we all feel like we have been away from home for weeks. After parting company tomorrow, the parents will head back to Chichester and we will travel a short distance north and west for holiday part 2 with my farming cousins.
Exercise today: walking (14,096 steps).
