The nose knows

....that it's about time to go home for the weekend.

This is the owner's pup at Abernethy & Spencer. I couldn't stretch quite far enough over the wide counter to give him a pat, despite his best efforts to make himself reachable, but he still gave me plenty of tail wags. 

A full day, and another rainy, chilly one. We had book club this morning, with conversation about Barbara Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Miracle (someone brought zucchini cookies, which tasted virtuous). Had tea over at Laura's and a catch-up with her parents who've been visiting from Vermont. Her poor mom's really been suffering from nausea following chemo treatments. Home to housecleaning and preparing the guest room. William picked up Isabelle and friend this evening from the train; they're heading down to DC tomorrow morning for the day. I'm heading to work tomorrow for a very different (time-wise) shift, 11am-11pm.
