Too Many Candles

Another birthday, not mine this time. Our friends down the road invited us round as they were having a barbecue for their lad who turns ten on Monday. Meaty food was eaten, cold wine was drunk, silly party games were played...

When the cake came out it transpired that the kids had decided to put all the birthday candles they could find on the cake, rather than the traditional number to match the birthday age. So it took three adults to get the whole thing lit up before the candles burned out or the cake collapsed under the weight :-)
