Cocktails & Dreams

Back Blipping

Trying to get my head round the weekend...

Met my good friend Scott in the supermarket to pick up supplies for our trip to Edinburgh, a weekend of musical madness.

It was a relatively quiet train journey, the highlight being on pulling into Edinburgh Scott recalls why his bag was so light, being that he'd forgot to pack a sleeping bag, aside from a tent it's the next crucial item for camping.

So off to Argos to sort out a bag and then a epic bus journey round the city to get to Mortonhall campsite. Thankfully the rain stayed away whilst we pitched the tent and had a quick beer before grabbing a bite to eat in the onsite pub. And then off again on the bus back into town.

With some time to kill before the gig, we stopped into a free comedy show, the show might be free, but the drinks were anything but, however two half pints of Jack Daniels later we sat down to watch Angry Beards, a funny half hour to pass the time.

Stopped into another pub with more reasonable prices and a guy playing some good old tunes on guitar.

Off to the Electric Circus in time to catch Teen Canteen, a superb 5 piece group playing some bittersweet indie pop, these girls should go far!

Then a cracking set from Randolph's Leap, dropping a bit of Rick Astley into their set, which had Scott humming Together Forever for most of the weekend, and my head screaming in surrender. Gig was by for 10 O'Clock so with a quick run accross the town we headed for Underbelly, having spied earlier on that Kunt & The Gang was playing, Scot had told me about this guy before and I wasn't disappointed, laughed myself through a half hour of his politically incorrect minor internet hits.

In time to catch the last bus back out to the campsite, for a relatively early and sober night.

All in all a crackin day.
