It’s a trick!

You’ll think it’s the ‘last
wee’ tree but it’s actually
far more exotic..

So Mr KCQN2Haiku is off work this week and we had a walk out at Lyme Park, Ben was with carers and older teen opted out(!) but Leo was a Big Fan :-)
We have a loop that we really love, through the woodland and over the heath-y bit and back through farmland and then more wooded stream-y paths. As we were near the end and just after Leo had had a jolly good stream-y paddle, there was a distinct woodpecker-y pecking.. we are not ornithologists (you’ll be shocked) but we both noticed it and wanting confirmation, we got out our little Merlin apps and, yes, it was a woodpecker :-) No chance of spotting it though! We stared hopelessly up at the trees for a while but then we were hungry and Leo was pulling, so I snapped this photo, hoping in some way I’d find a hidden woodpecker (a la where’s Wally!) at a later date.. needless to say this was daft and I haven’t.. but I quite liked the photo anyway (even though it looks like any one of my other quick snaps of trees!)
Ben has been good, he went to a fun fair and enjoyed some rides.
I’m also feeling a bit apprehensive about my grandad’s funeral tomorrow, of course these things are always going to be hard.. my priority is to be supportive to my mum but I’m also anxious about all the distant relatives and old family friends that I haven’t seen for donkeys years. I think my problem is that I’ve strayed into ‘overthinking’ territory! I’ll be quite glad when it’s this time tomorrow..
